I realized I never wrote down why June and I created Vsho in the first place, and why we felt passionate that a community-led platform for video product reviews should exist.

June has a background working with influencers, and I have a background in working in product. June has a deep passion for his sneakerhead community that congregates on WhatsApp, and I have a deep passion for my female cycling community on discord. Four things happened in congruence that caused us to launch Vsho:

  1. We were both available and wanted to work on this same type of project.

  2. Our skillsets aligned. I’m very passionate about social media algorithms and June is passionate about growth hacking, and so we divvied up our work between more product-focused work and business-growth work.

  3. We both believed in bringing the shopping social media habits from Asia into the western world.

  4. We both believed that products reviews need trust and personalization to be valuable.

And so we set out to make a trusted and personal product review platform by focusing on communities and shared identities.
